Lambeth Library and Lambeth Parks Challenge
Resource management games to help engage residents with local council planning
- Role: illustrator & animator
- Stakeholder: White October for Lambeth Council
- Sectors: public service
- Deliverables: sprites
Lambeth Council were looking for a new way to consult residents and teamed up with digital agency White October to develop an app that would improve engagement.
- Animation
- Illustration
As freelance illustrator and animator I worked closely with the agency's in-house UX design and development team. Together we came up with an appealing overall look and feel for each app with a playful and intuitive UI.
Lambeth Library Challenge was featured in The Guardian and won an award for digital innovation in public services. On the basis of the app’s success Lambeth Council and White October developed the follow-on app, the Lambeth Parks Challenge.
For the Lambeth Library Challenge we went with a pop-up book style in line with the library theme, while we decided on an isometric resource-games style for the parks app.
For both apps I drew each asset and added the variations and animations. I delivered these animated illustrations as sprites which were built into the app by the project's developer, giving the apps their playful interactive feel.
